1:00 PM - 3:00 PM -- The Latest on Health Reimbursement Arrangement Plans (HRAs)

Presented by:  David C. Smith, REBC - EbenConcepts - Durham, NC

This program is designed to provide health insurance agents and brokers with an overview of Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) plans and their potential impact on the cost of healthcare. Participants will have a better understanding of:

  • The benefits of Health Reimbursement Arrangment (HRA) plans for both employers and their employees
  • The advantages and disadvantages of the many plan design options for HRA plans
  • The impact of COVID-19 on HRA plans

 

David C. Smith, JD REBC is Vice President for Compliance and Risk Management Strategies of EbenConcepts. A native of Banner Elk, North Carolina, he is a graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University School of Law’s competitive Evening Program. David directs all compliance matters for the agency, its agents and their clients, as well as serves as the primary sales director for its technology and risk management strategies for larger clients. In addition, he spearheads strategy and data analysis for the agency’s self-funded clients.

3:00 PM - 4:00 PM -- Medicaid Expansion in Nebraska

Presented by:  Catherine Gekas Steeby and Drew Preston, Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services

This program is designed to provide health insurance agents and brokers with an overview of Nebraska's Medicaid expansion via Initiative 427 and help them to be in a better position to help their clients and answer some of the most Frequently Asked Questions related to the initiative.  Participants will have a better understanding of:

  • The timeline and history of Medicaid Expansion in other states and now in Nebraska
  • The impact of COVID-19 on Nebraska's Medicaid Expansion plans
  • The benefits and eligibility requirements for the Medicaid Expansion program
  • The many information resources available to agents and the general public to help explain and navigate the Medicaid Expansion initiative

Catherine Gekas Steeby is the Administrator II for Policy and Communications with the Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care in the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Drew Preston is the communications coordinator for the Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care in the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

This program is FREE for NAHU members and $50 for all others.  The 1PM program on HRAs will provide two hours of HEALTH CE credit for both Nebraska & Iowa, pending approvals.  The 3PM program on Medicaid expansion will provide one hour of CE credit.
